GLOBAL TURBINE ASIA AND BHIC AEROSERVICES PARTNERSHIP STRENGTHENS MALAYSIA’S POSITION AS MRO SERVICES HUB FOR THE REGION

Langkawi, Mar 22, 2017 – Global Turbine Asia Sdn Bhd (GTA) and BHIC Aeroservices Sdn Bhd (BHICAS), a joint venture company between Airbus and Boustead Heavy Industries Corp Bhd entered into a partnership to provide support to the MMEA engine fleets. In the partnership, BHICAS will be providing nose to tail maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service for helicopters.

GTA is a Malaysian born joint venture with Safran Group, providing engine maintenance works for helicopters and aircrafts.
Dato’ Nonee Ashirin Dato’ Mohd Radzi, GTA Chairman & CEO signed a Support By the Hour contract with Tan Sri Ahmad Ramli, Executive Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of BHICAS formalizing the partnership between the two companies, where GTA will support BHICAS specifically in the engine maintenance works. The signing took place at the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2017.

BHICAS, currently the main provider of MRO services for Airbus helicopters owned by the Government of Malaysia and its related agencies have begun extending their reach to a wider customer base in the region, since its inception four years ago.
Tan Sri Ahmad Ramli said, “This partnership is timely as we are ready to position ourselves as the MRO hub in the region. GTA plays a crucial part in complementing the services we are providing, which is a complete nose to tail MRO services”.
Dato’ Nonee mentioned, ”This collaboration between GTA and BHICAS is proof that local companies are just as capable in providing world-class services in this extremely strict and demanding field of expertise, where quality of service directly translates to the safety of the aircraft”.

GTA provides Support By Hour (SBH®) service to BHICAS for its engine maintenance, a comprehensive service that provides financial and operational coverage that covers scheduled and unscheduled events, which limits the exposure to unexpected expenses.
